Morphological variations of lung lobes and fissures: a preliminary study

IntroductionAnatomical variations of the lung lobes and fissures have implications in diagnostic radiology thoracic procedures. The prevalence these is not reported Sri Lanka. MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted on cadavers to assess morphological fissures. presence absence were addition describing completeness major ResultsA total 24 lungs 12 studied. Inferior accessory noted one right left two independent cadavers. Two had no horizontal fissures, an incomplete oblique fissure posteriorly. Azygos lobe observed this sample. ConclusionsThe morphology demonstrate a notable variability, par with previous reports. Further studies large sample size our population are necessary for generalizable results.
